Why we started Blunt.
We've always been the outspoken ones. The people at the dinner table who say the thing everyone else is thinking but carefully avoiding. The ones who give honest answers when people ask for honest answers, even when that's uncomfortable.
And we noticed something: gift giving was full of polite lies. Generic candles. Vague wine. Gift cards that said nothing except "I ran out of ideas." Beautiful wrapping paper around a complete absence of thought.
We didn't want to give gifts like that. And we figured we weren't alone.
So we built Blunt. Gifts for people who are done pretending. Mugs that say what you're actually thinking at 8am. Hats that summarize your current life situation in four words. Cards that say the real thing instead of the polite thing.
Not mean. Not cruel. Just honest. There's a difference. Mean punches down. Honest just refuses to pretend.
Every product we make starts with a real thought that a real person has had — usually something that would get you in trouble if you said it in a meeting. We put it on a mug instead. You're welcome.
